About us

Second Chance Animal Rescue, (SCAR) was founded in 2007, the charity shop in Shannon opened in September of 2011, and in August 2014 we opened a second charity shop in the mews on Burton Street in Kilrush.  In 2012 we established our animal shelters on a half-acre site in beautiful Labasheeda in West Clare. Second Chance Animal Rescue are here for the health and welfare of your pets. We provide support and education with compassion where and when needed, in CO. Clare, Ireland.

Our objective is to help as many animals as possible, big or small, find their forever homes. We never turn away any animal in need of our help and we will never put a healthy animal to sleep.

Our volunteers work for free, all funds raised through our shops, and monies donated and received through fund-raising efforts, go directly to providing for the animals in our care, and providing relevant services such as the neutering of wild cats and veterinary care where and when needed.

We need help with fundraising, fostering, and getting homes for many of the cats, dogs, kittens and puppies that are unwanted or abused.
